i will never let
define who i am
nor will i allow someone
the power to destroy me,
i realize i have a magic
and a voice all my own;
both are necessary
to conquer the titans that still
roam the universe—
i rose from the burial
you gave me
on unsure and awkward legs,
had to relearn how to light my fires from
but i gave up the weight of worlds
that was not mine to carry—
you may have buried a spring goddess,
but i came out a goddess of both
flowers and death;
persephone reborn with a vengeance
and a spite—
take these thorns,
a chaos meant for you,
they will rip you to all the ribbons
you cut into my heart
before i died.
