i am a phoenix
my tears
will heal you,
but my fires will burn
always i will rise
from the ashes
death has no claim on me—
you wanted to be arm candy
seen but never heard,
agreeing with everything even when
you were wrong;
thought yourself a wolf but it wasn’t
a dire wolf, for certain—
just a whisper of a wolf chased
away from the others
because you aren’t loyal or true to anyone
not even yourself,
and i am just the bird to burn you
to ashes;
because some girls are princesses waiting
for their princes to save them—
i am the queen ready for her checkmate.
