i won’t be
cassandra cursed
by the lust of
a man
if truth be told if i could choose
any occupation it would be punisher
of the gods;
apollo wouldn’t be the prime
defendant in my court of law—
zeus would pay and pay and pay and pay
for every eternity any world will ever know,
and i would get poseidon for what he did to medusa;
even athena and aphrodite would deal with
my wrath—
and hermes with his wiles
for tricking pandora into opening
the box,
and i would be pleased to know
that even gods weren’t
above the law;
but since that position doesn’t exist
i will carry this rage in me and defeat every injustice
that i am able to defeat instead—
you provoked the moon daughter’s wrath
so i will burn you so you realize
you are not the sun you thought you were.
